Generic Questions

Q: Is my mobile phone compatible?
A:
There is a "Supported device" list on each product page. If you can't find your device in that list, please email your device's exact make and model to support@HNHSoft.com to check compatibility.

Q: Can I install your software Over The Air (OTA)?
A:
Yes. Please make sure your device has an Internet connection and point your mobile browser to http://www.HNHSoft.com/ota. Your carrier may charge for data usage.

Q: I get an error message when I input my name and license key.
A: Make sure you type exactly as instructed in the order confirmation email. Please also double check your the software name and version number to make sure you are unlocking the correct software.

Q: I hard reset my handheld and lost my license key. What do I do?
A:
Please use this form to request your license code. You can re-download your software here.

Q: I do not have a credit card. Do you accept other payment methods?
A: We accept paypal. Our paypal address is paypal@HNHSoft.com. Please include the product name, your device make and model in your email.

Q: How do I get a license key for a product I downloaded?
A:
To buy a license key, please click products button from the navigation bar located at the top of our web pages and click "Buy" button under the product. Follow the secure check out process and you will get your license key. No further download is needed.

Q: You have a newer version on your download page. Do I have to pay for the upgrade?
A:
If the major version number is the same, then the upgrade is free. For example, if you have version 3.0, then you can upgrade to 3.x for free. Please un-install your current version, install the latest version, and re-use your previous license key.

However, if the major version number is higher, you may need to pay for an upgrade. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will receive instructions about upgrading.

Q: Is my credit card safe if I buy from your online store?
A:
YES. HNHSoft provides you with a fully secure shopping environment. Your order, including your billing information, is secure when you make an order from our online store. We do NOT store your billing information after the transaction.

Q: How do I redeem your coupon code?
A:
The coupon code issued by us can just be redeemed at our web store. You can use the coupon code when you check out of our web store.

Q: Do I need to download and install a "Full" version of your software after I purchase the license key?
A
: No. Please start the software you already installed (even if it already expired), select the "Register" menu and input your name and the license key (serial number), your software will become a full version immediately. You do not need to download or install any additional software.

BlackBerry Questions

Q: How to install HNHSoft programs on BlackBerry?
A:
Please read your installation guide PDF file in the zip file you downloaded from our download page, or follow this video guide, or read this instruction online. Remember, the easiest way to install is OTA (over the air). Simply visit http://www.hnhsoft.com/ota from the browser on your BlackBerry device.

Q: I can't hear the voice in your talking translator and talking dictionary on my BlackBerry Storm.
A:
On your BlackBerry Storm device, go to Options->About, and check the device OS version. If you are using BlackBerry Storm OS v4.7.0.75, you must upgrade to 4.7.0.113 or later to solve this problem. Please contact your carrier for upgrade instructions.

Q: When I restore a data file (.ipd) onto my BlackBerry, I get the following error message "Cannot restore read-only database(s) on the device."
A:
Please make sure the program (either HNHSoft Talking Phrase Book or HNHSoft Dictionary) is running while you restore your data file. i.e., you must make sure the screen shows "How to install more data file ..." when you restore the data file. If you exit the program and restore the data, you will get this error message.

Q: I am using BlackBerry and getting an Application Loader error: The following modules could not be loaded because their digital signatures were invalid: PhraseBook.cod
A:
This is most likely the result of a security setting on your BlackBerry Enterprise Server preferences. Please contact your IT department about this issue. It is described in this BlackBerry FAQ: Support - Invalid digital signature errors when installing an application

Q: When I try to install the ALX file to my BlackBerry, I get a message saying "No additional applications were found." What do i do?
A:
There are a few possible causes of this problem: 1. Our software is already installed, and you need to delete it. To do this, select our software from the list of applications in the Application Loader, then click the Delete button. Then click Next. Now you should be able to add the ALX file on the next time around. 2. You need to update your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software or device software. Please download the latest software from the following web page: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Q: I can't get the voice to work on my BlackBerry Pearl.
A:
Please note that (1) During the free trial period, only phrases in the "Basic" category have voice, (2) Please make sure the volume is high enough. You can adjust the volume by pressing '4' and '6' on your BlackBerry keyboard, and (3) Go to Options -> Security options -> Application Permissions, select the phrase book program, press the menu key, select "edit permissions", and change the "Interactions" option from "Custom" to "Allow".

Q: I can't exit the dictionary program on my BlackBerry Curve.
A:
Press the BlackBerry key (the one at the left side of the roller ball) and hold for 1-2 seconds, then select "Close" from the menu.

Q: Can I install your software on the extension card (media card) on my BlackBerry?
A:
First un-install the unsuccessful installation, if any. After that, on your BlackBerry device, go to Options -> Media Card, make sure "Mass Storage Mode Support" is turned OFF (click here for a screen shot showing the correct settings), and install the program/data again.

Q: I can't find the root directory of Device Memory or Media Card when I connect my BlackBerry with my desktop PC.
A:
Please turn on the mass storage mode and copy the data file to the root directory of either Removable Disk. To turn on the Mass Storage Mode, go to Options → Memory/Media Card → Mass Storage Mode Support, and select "On".

Windows Mobile Questions

Q: I get an error message saying the installation was unsuccessful.
A:
Please first check your free memory on your device. Go to Start >> Settings >> System >> Memory and make sure there is enough free memory. You can find the exact memory requirement from the installation guide PDF file in the downloaded kit.

If you still have the problem after making enough memory available, please see the next question, how to install from a CAB file.

Q: How do I install from a .CAB file to my Windows Mobile device?
A:
Follow these steps to install from the cab files directly:
1. Download the .CAB files from our web site. Click here if your device uses Windows Mobile Professional or Classic (Pocket PC), or here if your device is Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone).
2. Connect your device to desktop PC, and start ActiveSync.
3. From your desktop PC, start ActiveSync, select "Tools" from menu, and select "Explore" (or "Explore Smartphone). This will open up a file explorer windows showing the file system on your device. Click here to see a screen shot.
4. Copy and paste the .CAB file you just downloaded to the file explore windows you just opened in the previous step. Copy the file to the extension card if there is more space there. Click here to see a screen shot.
5. Allow the file transfer to complete.
6. Go to your Windows Mobile device, select Start >> Programs >> File Explorer. Click here to see a screen shot.
7. On your Windows Mobile device, select or tap on the CAB file you just copied over, and start the installation. Click here to see a screen shot.

Q: A dialog saying "Not a valid Pocket PC application" shows up when I run your program.
A:
Please download the version that matches your Pocket PC processor type and operating system. For details please visit our downloads page. If you are not sure which version you should download, please email us or post in the forum and let us know your device make and model.

Q: How do I install a product to my storage card (such as a CF card), rather than the main memory?
A:
Answer "No" when you are asked "Install HNHSoft ... using the default application directory?" during the installation, and then select the location you want the application to be installed.

Java Smartphone Questions

Q: What is Java Smartphone?
A:
Java (or J2ME) Smartphone is a term that refers to a Smartphone that supports Java applications. It includes most Smartphones models from Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola. If you are not sure if your phone is compatible, please email support@HNHSoft.com or post in the forum and let us know your device's exact make and model.

Q: Do you have an installation instruction for Java Smartphones?
A:
There is no general installation instruction for Java Smartphones due to the vast difference among those devices. However we do have a step-by-step installation guide to install HNHSoft products on a Nokia phone.

Q: I have a problem when I install the program. I use a Nokia and connected to the PC, but when I double click the .jar file, an error message "Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from ..." appears, please advise.
A:
Do NOT double click the .jar file on your desktop PC. If you use a Nokia phone, please follow this installation guide.

Q: There is no sound in your talking translators on my Nokia phone.
A:
Please turn on the "Warning sound" in your current profile.

PalmOS Questions

Q: I got the following error message "Resource Error: Cannot find the voice database" when I launch the software.
A:
After yon unzip the installation packages, there is one .prc files and one voice_xx.pdb file. You must install both. If you install only the .prc file you will get this error message.

Q: How to install your program on an extension SD card?
A:
If you use PalmOne Quick Install, please follow the steps below:
1. Launch PalmOne Quick Install.
2. You will see two panes in the Quick Install main UI, the upper part is for your device main memory and the lower part is for you SD card. Just drag and drop the application (both .prc and .pdb) to the part where you want the program to be installed.
