Palm: Cannot find the voice database

After yon unzip the installation packages, there is one .prc files and one voice_xx.pdb.pdb file. You must install both.

I purchased Asia2Go for the PalmOS and decided to try out the France2Go (also for the PalmOS). When I download the current version 3.0.5, unzip it, and install both the France2Go.prc and the voice_fr.pdb, I don't get any errors on my HotSynch. My Treo 650 reboots at the end of the hotsynch (as it should).

After the reset/reboot, when I try to start France2Go, I get an error message that says "Resource Error - Cannot find the voice database". I then click on "OK" and the program starts up. When I select a phrase and click on the "sound/speak" box, I get "Debug - Cannot find voice database. Please make sure you have installed the voice_xx.pdb file along with the .prc file".

Both files were installed on the main memory of my Treo 650. When I use a file manager program (FileZ), the voice_fr file does show up in my Treo 650's main memory.

I uninstalled, redownloaded the program (thinking it was corrupt), reinstalled, and I have the same problem/issue. I tried the Italy2Go demo for my Treo 650 and I don't have this problem. Of course with the Asia2Go that I purchased, none of the 4 programs have this problem as well (Cantonese2Go, China2Go, Japan2Go, and Korea2Go all work fine).

Can someone try it with the France2Go on the downloads section?

I just tried Germany2Go and Spain2Go demos and both also works properly on my Treo 650. This with my previous installation of the demo of Italy2Go all work without any issues (only with the obvious demo limitations).

The only program that I am having issues with is the France2Go demo where it doesn't seem to recognize that the voice_fr file is actually installed on my Treo 650.

Was browsing through all the previous threads in the Palm forum and noticed that memory might be an issue. Just to let you know so you don't ask me to verify the available memory on my Treo 650, it has approximately 9MB of free memory when I attempt to launch France2Go (just like the other demo programs as well as my purchased program {Asia2Go}). France2Go is the only program that gives me the error message about making sure that "voice_fr" is installed on my device (and it is installed based on FileZ).

We tried France2Go on our Treo 650 device and it works fine.
Would you please try the following for us?
1. Please follow the instructions in http://www.hnhsoft.com/node/401 and send us the log file.

2. If you have SD card for your Treo 650, please also try to install the application onto your SD card and let us know whether it works that way.

Have you tried to install onto your SD card?

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to try to install it on my SD card since my current SD card is almost filled to capacity and wouldn't hold the France2Go program (it only has around 3MB free on it).

We received your log file and still examine it. Is it possible for you to free up a little more space on your SD card? You can just install the voice_fr.pdb file on to your SD card.

I managed to free up room on my SD card and I installed both the France2Go.prc file as well as the voice_fr.pdb file on my SD card. After hotsynching, I couldn't find the France2Go on my default Palm Launcher so I used FileZ to see if I could locate it. I found it on my SD memory card in the location /PALM/LAUNCHER. I moved this from the SD memory card to my Palm's main memory. I was then able to see the France2Go icon on my default launcher.

I tried running the France2Go program and it works without any errors about the voice database (now that the voice database is installed on the SD memory card). I'm not sure why I had a problem with the voice database file when it was in my Palm's main memory.

We analyzed the log file you sent to us and the error is the applicate cannot locate the voice_fr.pdb file.
We tried installed the application multiple times but we cannot reproduce the issue as you described.
We will keep an eye on that and please let us know if you run into this issue again in the future.
