Stalled development?

Windows Mobile Pocket PC

Uhhmmm... so I just noticed that it's been 34 weeks since I posted a handful of messages and none of those posts have been responded to...

Man, that's nearly 9 months...

Here are some issues:

#1 FONTS SUCK - no size selectivity, no VGA support within definitions. Come ON!

#2 No tone entry in pinyin mode

#3 No word combination in pinyin mode (as in the ZhuYin entry mode for Native Chinese OS and aftermarket Taiwanese Phonetic entry IME's)

#4 And a new one - if the program is installed to external card, the icon likes to play disappearing games within the menu, most particularly if the card gets a lot of removal/replacement. Sure it's just cosmetic, but there has to be a simple fix for this.

What's the story with the fonts?

The bigfont patch was released ages ago... how about a 'bigger font' patch with a VGA capable font? These fonts are already present in my device as they are used quite sufficiently in every other program... Why does the program even use it's own internal font anyhow?

Currently, the way that I check character structure of a word that I look up in the dictionary that I cannot read is to select the character and hit the 'copy to clipboard' button (which isn't marked in any way, but looks like two peices of paper?) then paste it into the text entry box where it shows up in VGA, or possibly load it into Textmaker 2006 where I can increase the font size as desired.

I've been quite happy with the core of the program so far, but I'm more than a little disappointed to see that zero progress has been made in the last year. This isn't really a super-cheap program (although it is one of the better ones out there), so what have you been doing to convince your customers (and those who frequently recommend dictionaries to other students such as myself) that this is really worth the money?

Wish list features:

#1 Dictionary Font for Chinese words in VGA!!!

#2 Fonts with size selectability within the dictionary...

#3 Automatic switching between Chinese and English... If I enter a Chinese character why doesn't the program know that it's Chinese? And the same goes for English letters... Why can't the dictionary understand that when I'm typing English words in that there's no need to try finding it in the Chinese lookup... This can't be that hard.

#4 Please add tones and possibly a 'suggested second character' in the pinyin. I hate looking through 17 pages of or or better yet, or or or just to figure out a word that I'm not familiar with... it sure would be lovely to just input a space and have pinyin word combinations for a V A S T L Y improved pinyin input experience. I've found it to be so troublesome trying to find any word with the current pinyin system that I have actually used it to look up a word only about 3 times in the last 9 months. Sure, it's great that it's there, but it's bordering very, very close to being useless. Please use the ZhuYin input method as an example of what works well. For phonetic input, I use ZhuYin 99% of the time.

Thanks for the hard work, and please, keep it up. In spite of efforts to the contrary by PDA manufacturers, PDAs ARE still getting more popular as people see what can be done with them.

People constantly boggle at what I can do with my PDA... Taking notes in Spanish, French, English and Chinese with USB keyboard and stylus as I study Spanish and Chinese here in Taiwan.

hi eschelar, we really

hi eschelar, we really appreciate your comments and we didn't forget the suggestions you made 34 weeks ago. We are considering these features in our next major release.
We are currently focusing on expanding the supported platforms for the dictionary. As you can see we just released our BlackBerry version dictionary yesterday and we are currently working on Palm and J2ME phone version. After that we will release a new version dictionary for all platforms.
Thanks for your support as always.
