how speak english

Windows Mobile Pocket PC

hello - your product is great trying the evaluation version - cannot figure out how to say english words from chinese words found by a chinese person so we can communicate back and forth. i have communicated to them in chinese just fine!

do you have a chinese pdf manual on how to enter characters in chinese so my chinese friends can chat with me using your product?

do you have an upgraded product which allows text to speech so i can do sentences?

thanks!

chinese to english

The dictionary allows you to switch to CN->EN mode so you can translate from Chinese to English. Your friend can use Pinyin input, the standard method, to input Chinese, or if it's a character already displayed on screen, you can copy and paste that word into the lookup box. Unfortunately right now we don't have a manual in Chinese, but we can consider this in future versions.

By the upgrade, do you mean voice recognition (speech to text)?

>The dictionary allows you

>The dictionary allows you to switch to CN->EN mode so you can translate from Chinese to English.

this does not answer my question - how can the dictionary SPEAK the ENGLISH words after the chinese word has been found in CN->EN mode? i can get it to work the other way around but not chinese>english.

>By the upgrade, do you mean voice recognition (speech to text)?

no - i mean what i said - the ability of typing in a sentence or a document and having it read out in the target language such as mandarin?

i just purchased this

i just purchased this product because i thought it might be a demo version limitation and I STILL can't see how this works:

I hand the translator to a chinese person
she types on the pinyun board a chinese word
she clicks on the word
she clicks the speaker icon
it says the CHINESE word for some reason!

why?? she already knows how the chinese word sounds, she wants the dictionary to speak the ENGLISH word she just looked up! i can see it there - how can i get the dictionary to speak the english word just looked up from the chinese side???

english pronunciation

The current version doesn't provide English pronunciation, because it was primarily aimed at English speakers who are learning Chinese (therefore we assumed the users already know how to pronounce English words).

However we can consider adding English pronunciation in future versions.

well then you have false

well then you have false advertising - how can you say you have Chinese to English talking dictionary without the talking part? and how can you have a conversation with a person who speaks chinese without them also using the device?? why don't you state clearly that your product is directed towards students learning the target language instead of what i saw advertised on your web page - a two way conversation assist tool?
